Well, I made it through the challenge. I had ice cream 3 times, but not HD ice cream. The servings were much smaller than I am used to and I am going to try this challenge again in about a week. The first time I had ice cream was not due to a craving, but due to a work situation where it was available, offered, and I accepted. Overall, I am content with doing this challenge and plan to see some improvement with the next attempt. Au revoir
Aspartame has found its way into many foods and beverages we consume. One doctor in the video states it should not be on the market today and he fed it to mice and it produced brain damage. Could it have the same effects on humans? Interesting. The full length version of this documentary is now showing on satellite television.
Wow. Surprisingly, it has been a pretty good week. Last weekend I was sooo tempted to lift a pint of ice cream up out of the freezer in the grocery store, but I somehow found the strong not to give it. It was tough. My second trip to the grocer was much easier, as I did not have to mentally wrestle with should I or should I not buy it. So I am proud of myself. I have decided to add soda pop to the list. This has not been so much of a problem. Moving forward to week 2. :)
While we can't live without some form of sugar we can decrease our excessive sugar intakes. I have a few weaknesses when it comes to food. Surprising? lol. During this 30 day challenge I am going to attempt to abstain from eating foods that I indulge in too much, but for the purposes of this blog I will list the sugary treats I have a problem with staying away from It will be challenging, but I really need to do this for myself. I don't think I have gone a month without ice cream probably for the past 16 years.
Just because it is one of my favorite desserts it does not mean I have to have it every week. Sometimes, twice a week. My biggest offending sweet is Haagen Daz pints of ice cream. Dulce con leche, vanilla, strawberry. I just can't seem to get enough.
Fast food is on my challenge list also. I will document my progress in a brief post weekly. This is going to be really tough. Join in on the challenge and document your progress in the message forum. The challenge can be taken anytime. Just keep us posted. Best wishes!

Welcome to Shooger-Free.com!
This site was created for people with diabetes as well as those that have an excess in sugar intake and really want to consider reducing the amount of sugar consumed.
Some of us are at a point where we are near addiction status with the amount of sugar we just can't seem to live without. Just think when we were babies when we sucked down all of that bland baby food. We didn't know a thing about sugar until, perhaps, we had our first taste of pureed jar fruit or juice, and boy was that delicious. Think about the first time a child has a lollypop or sugar breakfast cereal.
I will be creating a monthly post of topics with occasional in between blurbs/entries related to diabetes or how sugar impacts my life and others and I may reflect on interesting articles I may come across. This is just the beginning and I have many plans on keeping the site fun as well as educational and resourceful.
In the mean time, join our message forum and create your own topic or blog. Share your story or an experience with a friend, family member or co-worker. Share your ideas, recipes, opinions, knowledge. If you have been successful in reducing sugar in your life let us know how you persevered. Just share.
